Body Control Pilates is the UK and European market leader in Pilates teacher training. We also offer training in countries as varied as Canada, South Africa, Norway, Denmark and Japan.

Since we ran our first course in 1996, we have gained a reputation for quality and support with more than 850 graduates now running successful businesses as Body Control Pilates teachers. Our initial matwork teacher training course is probably the most comprehensive course available and is delivered by our experienced team of teacher trainers, backed up by a network of more than 70 supervising teachers across the UK.

For those wanting to make Pilates teaching their vocation, it is vital that you choose the right training course, a course that puts equal emphasis on the teaching of Pilates theory and anatomy and on the development of practical skills and client assessment. Now that the Pilates industry, in association with SkillsActive and the Register of Exercise Professionals, has implemented a UK national standard for Pilates (in August 2005), it is important that you select a training provider that has been approved against that standard (Level 3 Pilates Teacher).

Body Control Pilates has received that formal approval and can therefore provide the best possible start to your teaching career. Once qualified, we will continue to offer you unrivalled support and access to a comprehensive programme of professional development.

Several factors set Body Control Pilates apart from other training organisations:

 - Course tuition is delivered by our team of experienced Pilates teachers, giving you exposure to a wide variety of teaching styles.

 - All students have direct access to a Course Mentor who can advise and support throughout the course

 - We have a national network of 70 Supervising Teachers who are trained to work with students during their supervised teaching period. This makes it much  easier to gain some of these hours closer to home.

 - Our regional centres  in Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Dunstable, Gloucestershire and Dublin offer key elements such as practical assessments and supervised teaching workshops.

 - After qualification, Body Control Pilates offers unrivalled support and development opportunities through our membership body.

The Body Control Pilates group is firmly established as a world leader in Pilates training. Our method has evolved from the work of Joseph Pilates, and we have created a series of matwork exercises – many unique to our approach – that teach the movement skills needed to gain maximum benefit from Pilates. They take the client step-by-step to the advanced ‘classical’ exercises created by Joseph Pilates more than seventy years ago.

The first Body Control Pilates company was founded in London in 1995 and our matwork teacher training courses commenced in 1996, shortly before the publication of our ground-breaking book “Body Control The Pilates Way”. Our matwork course was the world’s first curriculum-based course for prospective Pilates teachers. Since that time, more than 1,000 students have chosen Body Control Pilates as their training provider, many of them having enrolled for the increasing number of courses held in conjunction with our training partners outside the UK. The Course Director for the Body Control Pilates matwork course is Lynne Robinson, recognised as one of the world’s foremost Pilates authorities.

In February 2006, we became the first specialist Pilates training provider to have our course approved against the national standard for Pilates that was introduced in the UK in August 2005, thereby ensuring a wide recognition for the Body Control Pilates qualification.

All Body Control Pilates teachers are members of the Body Control Pilates Association, a ‘not for profit’ organisation that exists to safeguard the quality and standards of Body Control Pilates teaching, as well as to provide a unique support network for Body Control Pilates teachers worldwide. All of our teachers have access to the most comprehensive range of certification courses and professional development workshops available from any Pilates organisation in the world.

Body Control Pilates offers an unrivalled matwork teacher training course in terms of its breadth and depth of content, and of the variety of experienced teachers that you will work with. We cover more than 100 exercises, many unique to Body Control Pilates, and, importantly, we teach you how to assess and progress clients, adapting exercises as appropriate. You will be equipped to teach one-to-one sessions and group classes, and will have the ability to draw on the knowledge given to you on the course to plan enjoyable and stimulating classes for a wide variety of clients. We ask from you a commitment to learn and to become an excellent Pilates teacher. We will give you knowledge and support - throughout your training course and then beyond when you are a qualified Body Control Pilates teacher. Body Control Pilates is regularly featured in the UK and international media, thereby generating a high level of enquiries via our website and our Covent Garden office from members of the public wanting to take up Pilates. In a recent survey of Body Control Pilates teachers, 75% stated that they do not advertise, as their classes were full as a result of referrals and word of mouth. As a Body Control Pilates teacher you will also have access to a wide variety of development workshops and courses and to our regular 'Development Weekends', where more than 35 lectures and workshops are given by leading UK and international presenters, and by senior Body Control Pilates teachers.

Now that the UK Pilates industry has implemented a national standard in Pilates in order to prescribe the minimum knowledge requirements to become a Pilates teacher, the development programme offered by Body Control Pilates, combined with our consistent media coverage, gives all Body Control Pilates teachers a unique competitive advantage.

The Fitness Industry Association (FIA), who represent the major fitness club operators, has announced that, effective the end of 2009, all instructors teaching in an FIA member club, must have current membership of the UK Register of Exercise Professionals. This means that, in order to teach Pilates, an instructor must be on the Exercise Register as a Level 3 Pilates Teacher.
